Artist Statement: Receding tides bring to light amazing creatures living in seemingly harsh environments. In the Straights of Juan de Fuca, waves are often funneled between rocks through narrow surge channels. Green anemones, mussels, and sea stars cling to the wave-battered rocks and thrive in the nutrient rich waters.

Materials & Techniques: Pellon 830, cotton fabric, fabric paint, raw edge applique, free motion machine stitching, hand embroidery, wool batting.
