Jerry's Leaves by Susan Smtih

Jerry's Leaves by Susan Smtih

Artist Statement: In late 2015 my husband was diagnosed with mouth cancer and given only three to six months to live. Trying to make the most of the time we had left, he wanted to do a project together before he died. For our last quilt, he went out on the golf course we live on and collected the fall leaves for me to scan and print on treated fabric

Materials & Techniques: Scanned then printed the scans of the leaves with my printer,Shiva artist oil paint sticks to stencil bare trees on solid brown. Trupunto, quilting on the leaves, then heavily quilted.

Dimensions: 41 x 56

Photographer: Mark Frey/ Susan Smith
