How the Light Got In by Ruth Vincent

How the Light Got In by Ruth Vincent

Artist Statement: Looking up from my patio in the shade, I noticed the sun was casting light, reflecting and outlining edges of the Rhodi leaves. The light emphasized rough textures which I wanted to capture with raw edge applique and undulations of fabric between minimal quilting lines.

Materials & Techniques: Hand-dyed cotton fabric, watercolour pencil, thread, collage, raw-edge applique, quilting

Dimensions: 32 x 32 x 0

Photographer: Ruth Vincent
