Artist Statement: I poured acrylic paint on canvas to mix playful colors and create designs that swirl and whirlpool together. My art allows viewers to imagine spiral galaxies and eccentric shimmering spirals that careen, twist, and wander. Through Spoonflower’s digital printing, I enlarged the original art and transformed the fabric to reveal movement and color. This innovative process led me on creative journeys of imagination and freed me to unleash spontaneous ideas. 

Materials & Techniques: I mixed and poured acrylic paint on canvas to create a design. Photographed the original design and sent it to Spoonflower to print the art on cotton. Then embellished the design with free-motion and automated stitching and embroidered thread painting, using surface design techniques and zig-zag stitching on edges.
