My Battle with Parkinson by Melisse Laing

My Battle with Parkinson by Melisse Laing

Artist Statement: I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease 11 years ago. This is one in a series of art quilts expressing some of the positives and negatives of living with the disease. I‘ve dealt with “Frustration” almost every day. I experience it when I’m working in my studio and in everyday life. “Africa Goes Crazy” was inspired by some beautiful African fabrics and embellishments I used. Many of them are pieced, appliqued and embellished like the techniques used in “Frustration.”

Materials & Techniques: Hand-dyed fabrics; polyester quilting thread. Machine raw-edged "collaged" & quilted.

Dimensions: 20 x 19 x 0

Photographer: Rich Laing
