Karma Chameleon by Marissa Vignali
Artist Statement: I've wanted to make a chameleon quilt since I interacted with an amazingly friendly one at the Reptile Zoo on my way back to quilt retreat at Camp Huston a few years ago; taking a fabric painting class with Hollis Chatelain gave the the means to crystalize that idea. The tail creates a beautiful example of a natural geometry.
Materials & Techniques: Cotton hand-painted with thickened Procion dyes, commercial cotton, Madeira embroidery thread, Aurifil cotton thread, white and black artist pens and Inktense pencils for accents.
Dimensions: 25 x 26 x 0
Photographer: Fernando Vila
