Cathy Erickson - Radiance![]() Artist Statement: This quilt was named for the rays of yellow sunshine, which appear to shine through the quilt. East meets West in this quilt with its combination of Japanese and American fabrics. While inspired originally by a golden yellow chrysanthemum with the name of Radiance, I was to later always associate this piece with a photo of two ladies standing in a field of poppies on a sunny day while on a pilgrimage to Manzanar in California.
