Artist Statement: This is one of a series of 9-patch quilts I have been working on, using fine line work to cut thru the simple square. The name and the quilt were inspired by the newly plowed fields in central Ohio one early spring.

Materials & Techniques: Hand-dyed cotton fabrics, densly quilted with cotton thread.

Dimensions: 46"We x 46"H

Artist Bio: Until 1986 when I retired from a career in nursing, I was a wife and mother of 4 children. At that time my mother gave me a quilt top that had been pieced by my great grandmother. Learning how to quilt that top has led me to an addiction that continues now to occupy my energy and time. From that traditional background I have progressed to sometimes designing my own quilts around traditional patterns (or not) and dyeing my own fabrics and piecing without rulers. In my latest series of quilts I have used fine lines to insert colors.

Though I have had no formal art training, I have been involved in numerous art projects and was a founding member of the Bellevue Art Museum and the Bellevue Arts commission and on the board of the Pacific Northwest Arts and Crafts Association.
