We work to:
• educate the public and promote public interest in the contemporary art quilt
• encourage both public and private collecting of the contemporary art quilt, and
• encourage and support contemporary quilt artists.
We meet monthly in Seattle, on the Seattle Pacific University campus.. Each meeting consists of executive business, announcements, a speaker from within the group or from the larger arts community, and a “Showcase” where our member-artists have the opportunity to show completed work or a work in progress, for feedback from their peers. Meetings are open to the public.
Our members’ works have been exhibited locally, nationally and internationally and reproduced in many publications. We are especially proud of members who have received numerous top awards, honors, and special recognition from other prestigious regional, national, and international organizations.
CQA has published two books containing members’ pieces: Fine Art Quilts: Work by Artists of the Contemporary QuiltArt Association (Fiber Studio Press, ISBN 1-56477-193-8, now out of print), and Contemporary QuiltArt Association: 20th Anniversary (CQA, ISBN-13: 978-0-9798939-0-2).
Learn more about CQA by reading of our history and checking out our resume of exhibitions, publications and public events and a brief description About Members' Work.
We are proud of our accomplishments and excited about our future. |
