Meconopsis betonicifolia by Kasey Meier

Meconopsis betonicifolia by Kasey Meier

Artist Statement: Since I began quilting a few years ago, my goal has been to use my own photographs as inspiration for my work. This quilt is based on my photos of Himalayan blue poppies taken at the Rhododendron Species Garden in Federal Way, WA. I hand-dyed the background fabric and painted the main poppy image. The earlier piece is from a class with Lenore Crawford, adapting her pattern using commercial fabrics.

Materials & Techniques: The poppy is based on my own photo and painted on white PDF cotton using Caron D'Arche pastels and Derwent Inktense blocks. I hand-dyed the background fabric.

Dimensions: 30 x 30 x 0

Photographer: Kasey Meier
