Artist Statement: Duet #6 is an updated version of two earlier quilts, Duet #3, a smaller, commissioned piece from 2008, and Duet #2, a large quilt which was made in 1997. It is part of a larger series depicting birds that mate for life. It is quilted in many different colors of polyester and acrylic thread. The binding was designed especially for this quilt.

Materials & Techniques: Starting with a photo of the unquilted tops of Duet #3, which was made from my own dye-painted fabric, I digitally painted some of the background areas and redrew the heads of the eagles. The original image was enlarged and mirror imaged. It is quilted in many different colors of polyester and acrylic thread. The binding was designed especially for this quilt.
