Capitol Reef Erosion by Nicole McHale

Capitol Reef Erosion by Nicole McHale

Artist Statement: The walls of the washes at Capitol Reef National Park, UT are littered with small to large niches. Their quite intriguing nature led me to recreate one in 3-D.

Materials & Techniques: Cotton thread and fabric, tulle, polyester flannel as batting. Quilted squares are cut, rotated and sewn back together for more quilting. Eventually the squares are sewn together so they can be shaped.

Dimensions: 7 x 16 x 14
