Artist Statement: Cells on the surface of fish skin are uniquely beautiful when highly magnified through a microscope. This piece was inspired by an image I photographed with a scanning electron microscope during my career as a Marine Biologist.

Materials & Techniques: A quilt sandwich of cotton fabric and wool batting was free motion quilted, then painted.  For the "mucus cell" areas, holes were cut through the quilt, faced, and replaced with two layers of painted lutradur patterne
