Bonnie Bucknam - A Murder of Crows

Bonnie Bucknam - A Murder of Crows

Artist Statement: In Renton, Washington, I saw a murder of crows.  There were hundreds of them circling the trees, their iridescent wings fluttering and flapping against the overcast sky.  Their cacophonous screeches were mourning one who lay dead in the road.  They took turns swooping down to inspect the fallen one, and their cries mourned the loss.

Materials & Techniques: Commercial cottons and fabric hand-dyed by the artist.  Machine pieced. Machine quilted

Dimensions: 24" x 48"

Photographer: Mark Frey
