Artist Statement: Our resplendent national symbol of unity and welcome stands in NY Harbor, lighting the way to freedom, but is clearly upset by her citizens’ use of violence against one another. Fear, mental illness, and...gun sales? The easy availability of semi-automatic guns and ammunition in the US has resulted in horrific violence and loss of life. Liberty’s torch is out of the picture here; but she remains a symbol of hope, light, and enduring good will.
