Artist Statement: This 3D fiber great blue heron is built to capture the moments that it is intent upon it’s prey. They can stand perfectly still, then strike in a blink of the eye. The vibrant colors of the watery background contrast with the neutrals in the heron. 

Materials & Techniques: Multiple types of yarns and embroidery thread; hand-dyed linen; nylon sheers; wire; acrylic molding paste; painted sea sponge; animal eye. Layered machine stitched yarns and linen feathers; thread wrapped wire legs; molded beak and toenails; hand stitched layered background.
