Artist Statement: Inspired by Native American button blankets of the Pacific Northwest, the eight-pointed star is a generative figure in this quilt, radiating and expanding from within. Generations spring forth from the center and move outward, forming rings of support and safety, eventually decaying and falling apart (as we all must do) to make room for generations to come. "Will the circle be unbroken?" is the question we all ponder.

Dimensions: 29" wide X 59" high

Materials & Techniques: Silk on wool, hand-painted.
