Artist Statement: Blooming Heather in masses is one of the most intense experiences in a wetland or moor. Growing up in Germany, visiting the Lüneburger Heide left me with a deep memory of this particular color. Today, most of these wetland landscapes are endangered, and in dire need of awareness and protection.

Materials & Techniques: Hand-dyed cotton (by the artist), Dupioni silk, commercial cotton. Pieced by machine, facing applied & quilted with domestic sewing machine.
