Artist Statement: We are backyard birders. The Northern Flicker is a frequent visitor to our feeders. Inspired by a tail feather dropped by one of these beauties, I was moved to replicate it on a quilt.

Materials & Techniques: Commercial and hand dyed cottons, variety of specialty fabrics, metallic, monofilament and cotton threads. Piecing and raw-edge appliqué. Free-motion and guided quilting.
