Artist Statement: A particularly beautiful sunrise near Cascade Head, Oregon inspired this piece. Light first broke through the clouds to streak the water on the horizon, then moved across the land, warming the trees and meadow outside my window. Building the piece with bands of color recalled the experience of watching this golden migration transform the landscape minute by minute.

Materials & Techniques: Commercial, hand dyed and monoprinted cottons and silks, machine pieced and quilted with hand embellishment.
