Artist Statement: This large scale portrait was meant to honor this woman who was strong, care-taking, supportive and kind. She was happy despite many challenges. Materials & Techniques: Machine appliqué and quilting; this quilt is made exclusively of fabrics that were surfaced designed by the artist. Both dye, pigment and resist were used with drawing and screen-printing
