Artist Statement: Whales are a part of life around Puget Sound. When Japan announced several years ago that they were deliberately capturing several Orcas, I was both angry and despairing. The black and white section of this quilt had already been completed. The remainder came together into a whole piece in memory of all orcas whose lives have been and are being impacted by thoughtless and selfish human beings.
