Artist Statement: Much of my work uses the house image. This is not only because of its emotional content, but also for its geometrical joy. It is an intriguing shape. Recent work has moved away from a specific house image but is still concerned with domestic stories and personal moments. Although once adverse to detailed handwork, I now embrace it as another method to add complexity. Embellishment has become a passion. Each stitch, each bead, is another moment in time documented in the artwork. This stitching also serves as a method to micromanage a small section of the universe and foster the illusion of control.

Dimensions: 24" wide x 26" high

Materials and Techniques: Stained and burned linens, cottons, silks, and synthetics; hand-dyed and commercial cottons; pearls; beads. Machine appliquéd, machine quilted, hand embellished.
