Artist Statement: This quilt is part of my series “Baltimore Goes Modern.”  In the case of this quilt I used a traditional block called “Laurel Leaf” from a Baltimore Album quilt as inspiration.  The single block was expanded to the final size of the quilt.  Lorraine and I used extensive ruler work to capture the graphic look of modern quilts.  The feather work gives a nod to traditional heirloom quilting.

Materials & Techniques: A combination of silk, cotton, and Poly threads were used.  Free motion machine quilting, ruler work, grid work, feathers, and micro quilting.
