Nudibranchs 2 by Carla Stehr

Artist Statement: Nudibranchs are snails without shells that often display colorful "naked gills" on their backs. These nudibranchs are called White Lined Dorids. They are found in Puget Sound and along the Pacific Coast.

Materials & Techniques:  Painted silk organza was used to suggest the transparent "naked gills" of these nudibranchs. Silk organza was fused to Misty Fuse, pieces were "cut" with a heat tool, then painted. Raw edge applique, free motion quilting, hand embroidery were also used.

Dimensions: 16 x 27
