Its beauty encompassing
Yet impermanent
Snow invites appreciation and participation
Without needing acceptance
It’s there for its own fulfillment
It doesn’t care if you like it or not
Or even if you love it
It will do what it does
As it does
When it does
Snow holds the world in suspense
Flake by flake
Blanketing every surface
Quieting every little thing
It patiently expects
Time will take longer

Artist Statement: Snow drifting outside the window, silencing everything in a blanket of white, brings peace and calm to the chaotic world. This quilt sprang from a design exercise of Lorraine Torrence.
Materials &Techniques: Commercial cotton fabrics and batting. Machine pieced and quilted.
