What We Do
|
We work to:
educate the public and promote public interest in the contemporary art quilt
encourage both public and private collecting of the contemporary art quilt, and
to encourage and support contemporary quilt artists.
CQA maintains a slide bank for viewing by publications, galleries, colleges, universities and museums, and for use in lectures. Our 106 members live throughout Washington State and meet monthly in Seattle, Washington. Each meeting consists of executive business, announcements, a speaker within the organization or from the larger art community, and finally, "Showcase", where our member artists are given an opportunity to show completed work and work in progress for feedback from their peers. Meetings are open to the public.
Our members exhibit locally, nationally and internationally in such shows as Quilt National, Visions: San Diego, American Museum: Quilts and Textiles, New Works: Washington State Convention Center, and the Bellevue Art Museum. And we are delighted to announce that we have published a book of our work! "Fine Art Quilts: Work by Artists of the Contemporary QuiltArt Association", published by Fiber Studio Press, ISBN 1-56477-193-8.
