Artist Statement: I originally painted the red and brown fabric in August 2001 and when I looked at it later it reminded me of the image of the gound zero site in New York. It wasn't until 2003 that I could work with it. Then I painted the darker blue fabric because I had heard over and over what a beautiful day 9/11 was - the sky was so blue. The tower images are made from pieces of commercial cotton fabric that I have fused and sewn on - there are also woven paper pieces sewn on.
Materials & Techniques: Painted canvas, machine piecing, fused appliqué, machine quilted.
Dimensions: 28" wide x 40" high
