Artist Statement: I started this piece in the early summer, and the chrysanthemum theme of the "Gifts to Gold Mountain" exhibit encouraged me to use colors that remind me of a vibrant flower garden on a bright, sunny day. I work improvisationally, so the piece evolved as I worked. Although I often tend to work with earth tones, it was great fun to play with this fiery palette.
