A 2007 juried exhibition in conjunction with the 20th Anniversary of our art quilt organization and presented at the Washington State History Museum in Tacoma, WA. This show coincides with the symposium, "Evolution of the Artist: Directions and Development", organized by the Contemporary QuiltArt Association. Along with the art quilts on display are images of some of the earliest works of each participating artist, offering an opportunity for viewers to see how their works have evolved with time and experience.
Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Contemporary QuiltArt Association in 2007, "Coming of Age" appeared at the Washington State Convention and Trade Show, expecting 100,000 visitors. This exhibition was juried by three nationally recognized artists: Rachel Brumer, Layne Goldsmith and Karen Soma.

Contemporary QuiltArt Association members kicked off their 2006 exhibition year in the Washington Center for Performing Arts in the state capitol of Olympia, WA. In "Quilt. Fiber. Art.", a juried show, 24 artists contributed outstanding work that would be visited by over 4,000 art enthusiasts during Olympia's ArtsWalk.
This 2005 show is a return to the Penn Cove Pottery venue with a juried selection of CQA artists displaying their creations based on the theme of "Winter's Warmth" inspirations. Here is what Winter's Warmth meant to these seventeen artists.
Contemporary QuiltArt Association members were inspired by seas and streams - their many facets and inhabitants - for "Water's Edge," a juried exhibition held in 2005 at the Seattle Aquarium, a popular waterfront destination focusing on marine life and the natural wonders of the Puget Sound.

This 2005 show is an exhibition of member work within the theme of social justice and social causes displayed at the Gilmartin Gallery of the University Unitarian Church in Seattle. Juried pieces touch on a wide variety of issues, ranging from homelessness to excessive executive compensation. View the show
This 2004 show at the Northview Gallery of Portland Community College is a great mix of 2-D and 3-D pieces. Even the 2-D pieces use embellishment and design principles to give the 2-D pieces the appearance of being multidimensional. View the show
Rather than stating a "theme" up front for this juried show, members were encouraged to enter their regular current style of work in 2004 at the Phinney Ridge Community Center. View the show
The idea for Imagination Takes Wing came about in 2003, the centennial year of powered flight. A Museum of Flight member who is also a member of the Contemporary QuiltArt Association was inspired by the fact that much of the Wright Brothers first aircraft, The Wright Flyer, was constructed of fabric. That member thought that a show consisting of fabric art surrounded by aircraft would be interesting to Museum members and visitors. View the show

An exhibition in 2001 of 27 art quilts by members of the Contemporary QuiltArt Association, was the result of a challenge to use unusual silks from Asia, along with other materials and stitched designs, to explore rituals. View the exhibit
