FiberArt Links

CQA is an arts organization which sponsors and promotes the professional endeavors of artists working in the quilt medium. In addition to sponsoring workshops and organizing exhibitions, we have been honored by the inclusion of many of our members' works in national and international fiber art shows.

Membership is open to residents of Washington state and guests are always welcome at our monthly meetings which are held on the second Saturday of each month, 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Our meetings are casual, so please bring a sack lunch if you wish. Tea and cookies are usually provided. For map and directions see below. Click here to view a Membership Application. Print it, and mail it in.

Upcoming CQA Meetings and Speakers

June 14th: "Sewing Paper and Aluminum Cans" by Robert Purser

Robert Purser is a mixed media artist who derives much of his inspiration from textiles. In his childhood, he enjoyed watching his grandmother and great-grandmother quilt and, more recently, he has been attracted to the work of African-American quilters in the South as well as African textiles of the Kuba people. His early work clearly showed the influence of quilts. He moved on to producing works with less structure that were influenced by the painter Mark Tobey. More recently, he has returned to the grid structure, making works that reflect his interest in architecture. For the past year, he has worked on a single, large piece that was a commission for an elementary school in Spokane. You can see more of his work at: purserstudio.com/rGal1.html.
