Artist Statement: Color is a primary inspiration for my work. I was drawn to the beautiful color of a handmade jacket while window shopping and found the hue was labeled "persimmon". I tried to reproduce that deep color in my hand-dyed cottons along with a palette of harmonizing and contrasting values. Variation in the combinations of colors in different areas encourages the viewer's eye to move around the surface.
