Artist Statement: In my previous life, prior to quilting, I worked as a nurse in a geriatric psych ward, in a weld shop and an oil refinery. I have always been drawn to bold, bright color and before my retirement I made a conscious decision that for the rest of my life I wanted to work with color. A good day is when I can spend it in my studio cutting and sewing colored fabric back together in some fashion that pleases my senses. I prefer working improvisationally, not having a plan, just building modules, placing them on the wall then fitting them together. This last series of small pieces was an attempt to use very narrow piecing.
