Artist Statement: My inspiration for this piece was the Chinese fabric provided as part of the challenge and the memorable yet oddly beautifully shaped hills of Guilin, China. The hills rising above the water provide a reflective and mystical backdrop for the fisherman in his daily fishing ritual. My personal challenge in this piece and in the body of my work has been to present the landscape using thread and cloth as my medium.
