Artist Statement: From the forest floor of rocks to the cut stumps to the magnificent red cedar this sculpture is meant as a reminder of the wondrous forests we have lost and ones yet to conserve; essential for converting our carbon waste to oxygen.

Materials & Techniques: Cotton fabrics commercial and hand-dyed. Archival pens for writing. Machine pieced and quilted. Stuffing for roots and stumps. Copper rings for top and bottom with snaps for "quilt" to attach to rings. Can be hung from ceiling or from a provided plexiglas wall support.
