Artist Statement: In Italy seafood is called Frutti di Maré, Fruit of the Sea. I found this to be charming. I used commercial fruit prints and painted the details of the fish, then appliquéd them onto the background of hand-dyed fabric which I quilted by hand in bold stitches to complete the folk-art flavor of the piece.
