Artist Statement: This work is about the transition from birth to life as well as the transition from life into death and beyond. When I designed and made this work, my daughter was in the terminal stages of a devastating cancer. My struggle to understand and deal with her imminent death is represented in this image.

Dimensions: 45" wide x 35" high

Materials and Techniques: This work was discharged with bleach and water. I sprayed a bleach solution on black fabric, using torn paper, and rope as a resist to the bleach and making the pattern, I machine and hand quilted the work and embroidered it.
